SYMPOSIUM and ROUND TABLE TOPICS
Nanotechnology is a field of research that harnesses the unique characteristics of materials at the atomic and molecular scale. At the nano level, the typical physics and chemistry rules no longer apply as objects adopt new properties rendering them more useful and powerful. A wide array of nanotechnology products has emerged across various scientific fields such as energy consumption, biotechnology, solar technology and many more.

This symposium will discuss the fundamentals of nanotechnology and highlight its diverse applications and potential problems. Topics include but are not limited to:
  • Nano and microstructured bio inspired surfaces
    • Bioinspired concepts for sustainable solutions in robotics, medicine and in space
  • Nanostructured thin films and coatings
    • New concepts for ultra hard materials and surfaces
  • Fundamentals of miniaturized conductor lines
    • Micromechanisms of electro and stress migration in miniaturized metals
  • Nanoparticle reinforced high performance alloys
    • Combining dispersion strengthening with high-entropy matrices for ultra high temperatures
  • Application of Machine Learning and AI
    • Optimization of gripping devices and robotic handling by machine learning
  • Fundamental concepts of nanotechnology
    • Design, characterization, production, and manipulation of nano-objects; top-down and bottom-up approach
  • Nanoengineering
    • Engineering at the nano-level in order to create various materials, structures and devices, nano-engineered naterials, nanoscale computing devices and systems.
  • Nanomedicine
    • Nanoparticles for delivery of dug treatments; medical nanodevices; lipid nanotechnology; nano-electronic diagnostics
  • Green nanotechnology
    • Nano-remediation, nanofiltration and water treatments; nanotechnology for the removal of plastics and oil spills from oceans; graphene nano-filters
  • Nanophysics
    • Physics of structures, materials, etc. at the nanometer or nanosecond range nanofiber construction
  • Agriculture
    • Nano-sensors for crops; nanoparticles in fertilizers
  • Graphene technology
    • Use of graphene as an extremely thin and lightweights single layer of carbon in numerous nanotechnology applications, ranging from fuel cells to battery technology
  • Microplastics
    • Use of nanotechnology to clean up these microplastics appearing in water, air, marine animals, etc. via nano-coils, and various other alternatives.
